Overview

Responsibilities

Under general supervision works independently, responsible for the cultivation and care of landscaping and grounds surrounding the building. Plants flowers, mows, pull weeds, repairs structures, and maintains outside of building.  

 

Essential Functions:

  • Embrace the concepts of maintenance excellence
  • Acquire and retain training on specialized equipment
  • Always work in a safe manner following all safety requirements for equipment
  • Use the proper PPE at all times
  • Know how to fuel equipment and the use of the proper fuel
  • Perform pre operations checks and fill out check list every time equipment is used.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained at proper intervals
  • Order necessary inventory of parts, supplies oils and fuel.
  •  Work variable shifts and start times to meet environmental conditions
  • Plan work to best suit facilities needs
  • Work with the planner and operations to ensure scheduled work is performed with minimum impact to operations
  • Help determine the urgency of work
  • Keep storm drains maintained and clear of debris. Mulch debris near the storm drains so they do not become clogged with large loose vegetation.
  • Keep weeds killed around fire safety equipment
  • Keep a 3’ barrier around all fence lines
  • Keep trash picked up before mowing
  • Be aware that equipment can throw rocks and debris that could impact people or property,
  • Effectively use a maintenance management computer program.
  • Be able to apply painted lines inside and outside the building
  • Be able to seal seams inside and outside the building.
  • Coordinate and participate in the proper care of the landscape and grounds to include trimming, edging and weeding
  • Maintain grounds and areas along the road
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

Education, Training & Professional Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • 1-year maintenance mechanic experience
  • Knowledge of various types of equipment in maintenance trades
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP Preferred)

 

Knowledge & Employment Standards:

  • Knowledge of general warehouse practices
  • Strong communication skills
  • Mathematical and documentation skills necessary
  • Ability to work with hands in mechanically oriented situations
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, as well as interpret pencil sketches and diagrams
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts, if required, including on call
  • Must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions: they must get along with co-workers without exhibiting behavioral extremes; perform work activities requiring reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, or speaking with others; and respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor

May be required to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures of –15 degrees Fahrenheit and outside ambient temperatures (including heat, cold and precipitation)

Must tolerate heights up to 35 ft. and be able to access elevated platforms and catwalks

Must be able to climb ladders and stairs

Frequently required to stand; walk; push; pull; reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; and crouch

Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Must be able to use hand and power tools

Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, and/or manipulate parts & tools

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception. Either naturally or with the aid of eye glasses

Able to work nights and weekends

Able to pass a physical and respiratory exam
