    Responsibilities

    Primary Responsibility: 

    Under minimal supervision, the Transportation Analyst provides analytical, technical, and administrative support to the Transportation Manager and business unit. The purpose of this position is to analyze data and provide management reports. The primary responsibility is to analyze operating results, coordinate budgeting, develop forecasts, and provide recommendations for improvement.

    Essential Functions:

    • Analyze and adjust PDTs (Precise Delivery Times) to reach organizations goals
    • Monitor and track garage expenses, working closely with the Garage Maintenance Manager to achieve budget while maintaining proper preventative maintenance levels for each type of equipment
    • Track rentals and all associated costs
    • Make sound decisions to obtain/return rentals based on daily operational needs
    • PeopleNet resident expert, working closely with customer to use tool to reduce costs and improve driver performance
    • Analyze data in TMS (Transportation Management Systems), PeopleNet, and any other systems used in order to make suggestions to improve driver and equipment utilization
    • Be a driving force in change management related to any ideals that management agrees to move forward with
    • Other reporting and management duties as required

    Qualifications

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • 2-4 years of related work experience
    • Strong research and organizational skills
    • Ability to communicate professionally, both written and verbally with individuals at all levels of the organization, external contacts, customers and potential customers
    • Progressive, flexible and team oriented approach desired
    • Possess a proactive approach with strong customer service orientation
    • Demonstrates uncompromising level of integrity and code of ethics and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
    • Must be able to relate to others beyond giving and receiving instructions: they must get along with co-workers without exhibiting behavioral extremes; perform work activities requiring reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, or speaking with others; and respond appropriately to criticism form a supervisor

    Tools and Technology Required:

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
    • Proficient with PeopleNet and other Transportation related systems
    • SQL proficiency preferred

    Physical Requirements:

    • Requires the ability to sit for long periods of time, with frequent interruptions
    • Requires several hours per day of sitting, getting up and down from chairs, and reaching, or bending
    • Requires manual dexterity with normal hand and finger movements for typical office work 
    • Talking, hearing, and seeing are important elements of completing assigned tasks
    • May require travel by automobile and airplane up for business
    • May require a visit facility operations in temperatures at or below freezing
    • May carry loads related to travel and occasionally lifts, carries, positions, or moves objects weighing up to 20 pounds
    • Requires the use of various electronic tools 
    • Requires the ability to relate to others beyond giving and receiving instructions: must partner with colleagues without exhibiting behavioral extremes
    • Requires the performance of work activities including reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, or speaking with others; and respond appropriately to constructive feedback from executive management
