    Responsibilities

    Primary Responsibility: 
     
    Support tax planning, reporting and analysis; accounting and financial reporting requirements of the Company.


    Essential Functions:


    • Serve as a key member of the tax organization for a billion plus dollar multinational company, which includes a Real Estate Investment Trust (“REIT”) and Taxable REIT Subsidiaries
    • Responsible for coordination of the tax compliance reporting and planning of foreign operations
    • Provide Corporate level support for international issues (VAT, transfer price, etc.) 
    • Perform tax research, including interpretation and application of corporate tax law and policy
    • Provide tax planning and strategy for new deals and agreements, including aiding with the creation of new entities, proposed transactions and researching tax saving strategies in income, sales and use and property taxes
    • Partner with corporate and business controllers to ensure significant transactions are provided for appropriately in the tax provision and obtain necessary tax information for compliance and issue resolution
    • Ensure files and documentation are properly recorded for compliance under SOX 404 regulations
    • Prepare and review tax work papers for the calculation of taxable income.  
    • Prepare, review and/or manage the preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provisions, tax footnotes and analysis of effective tax rates, including ASC 740 and FIN 48
    • Prepare tax account analysis and reconciliations and maintain tax records
    • Responsible for coordinating Company responses on US federal, foreign, state and local tax examinations
    • Assist Director with REIT related issues and projects
    • Other duties, as assigned

     

    Qualifications

    Qualifications & Experience:


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA or Masters in Tax required
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive tax experience, preferably within a recognized public accounting firm with recent, in-depth, experience with FAS 109 and FIN 48
    • Technical experience: Corporate / Partnership tax experience for federal, state and local income taxes (experience with REIT and Taxable REIT Subsidiaries, a plus) and commodity taxes (VAT experience, also an asset) 
    • Previous tax planning and strategy experience 
    • Ability to perform well under pressure and maintain a positive attitude in a high-volume and changing environment
    • Demonstration of ownership and ability to multi-task in order to balance responsibilities with assigned projects, while ensuring that all deadlines are met
    • Experience in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and accounting software systems including One Source
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP and the ability to research technical accounting issues and apply them accordingly

    • Self-starter with exceptional ability to identify and solve problems
    • Experience preparing or auditing financial statements
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail are essential
    • Very strong organizational and analytical skills 
    • Progressive, flexible and team-oriented approach desired
    • Some travel required (~25%)


    Physical Requirements:


    • Requires the ability to sit for long periods of time, with frequent interruptions
    • Requires several hours per day of sitting, getting up and down from chairs, and reaching, or bending
    • Requires manual dexterity with normal hand and finger movements for typical office work 
    • Talking, hearing, and seeing are important elements of completing assigned tasks
    • May require travel by automobile and airplane up for business
    • May require a visit facility operations in temperatures at or below freezing
    • May carry loads related to travel and occasionally lifts, carries, positions, or moves objects weighing up to 20 pounds
    • Requires the use of various electronic tools 
    • Requires the ability to relate to others beyond giving and receiving instructions: must partner with colleagues without exhibiting behavioral extremes
    • Requires the performance of work activities including reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, or speaking with others; and respond appropriately to constructive feedback from executive management
